Waitangi Day

These people are carrying this banner because they want people to respect the treaty.
The first person to sign the treaty was Hone Heke there were also 40 chiefs who signed it.
The treaty was signed on February the 6th 1840.
Over 500 maori signed the treaty and 13 people that signed the treaty were woman.
Most of the people supporting Waitangi Day are maori
The maori are protesting because the crown promised to Maori the benefits of royal protection and full citizenship.
